For nearly 400 years, European settlers over-harvested and market-hunted America’s wild game. Thankfully, the birth of modern conservation in the early 1900’s helped restore many of the nation’s wildlife populations and established the modern, science based fundamentals of managing wildlife species. And ironically, it was conservation-minded hunters who helped lead the change and today fund $800 million dollars a year to all conservation programs.
